Working through the Obama Foundation's Girls Opportunity Alliance, Obama has joined forces with philanthropist Melinda French Gates and human rights attorney Amal Clooney to help girls around the world move closer to global gender equality. And Obama has started recording "The Light Podcast." It allows her to share stories of family and lessons about inner confidence. She's written another book, "The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times," that speaks to such empowerment. Since leaving the White House, she's discovered a megaphone she couldn't always use under the watchful eye of political critics, and she's still living by the motto she first made famous, "When they go low, we go high." ![]() Of course, for eight years, we came to know her as the polished first lady to America’s first Black president, Barack Obama. Every dinner she hosted sold out, she said, and she was soon inundated with inquiries from aspiring nude diners from around the world.Sure, she had supportive parents, good grades and a straight head on her shoulders.īut what was missing was a sense of belonging. (She also hosts Füde Breath-work Experiences, breathing with naked strangers and Füde Clay Experiences, naked sculpting.) The dinners were initially invite-only, but she opened them up to people who had heard about them through Instagram or word of mouth. Max started experimenting with naked events in 2020. Put another way: It’s a naked vegan dinner party with a bunch of strangers. Max has approved the applications, guests come together to enjoy, according to the website: “a liberating space that celebrates our most pure selves, through plant-based cooking, art, nudity, & self-love.” The Füde Dinner Experience is hosted by the artist and model Charlie Ann Max. This was necessary, after all, since everyone inside, at a dinner earlier this month on the Lower East Side, was naked. Several of the women scurried over to tape it back up. While two dozen women took big, synchronized breaths, stretched their arms up and wobbled, one of the sheets covering the street-facing windows occasionally fell. ![]()
